The Book of Faces

With one landmark evolution arises various other perspectives, lifestyle patterns and human behavioral systems. And if that particular evolution has certain driving factors like entertainment, information and connectivity to offer, it is there to stay boss!!! That makes Facebook as the real book of faces!

But, if we really think over it, why is Facebook so… so… so… damn hit, universally!!

Let’s evaluate Facebook as a reallllllly big brand. What does FB offer to its enormous user base?

·         Limitless information (Not really.)
·         Entertainment (Does it really amuse us? No…not exactly.)
·         Connectivity (Is this the way, we humans are designed to connect with each other? I don’t think so.)

The above points really don’t suffice for the actual meaning of Facebook. Now, just deep breathe and think by yourself…that when you reach your desk everytime for work right in the morning, what really instigates you to first login your Facebook account…???

Yes, it is that deep urge to socialize with the rest of the world. Let’s admit the fact that even those souls who are quite silent, shy and introvert are social animals. So is everyone else!

In a breakthrough study from Stanford University School of Medicine, researchers have shown that oxytocin - known as the “love hormone” is actually involved in a much broader range of social connections. The researchers discovered that oxytocin released through any type of social connectivity triggered the release of serotonin. In a chain reaction, the serotonin then activates the ‘reward circuitry’ of the nucleus accumbens resulting in a happy feeling. Nucleus accumbens is a region of the human brain that has an important role in pleasure including laughter, reward, and reinforcement learning, as well as fear, aggression, impulsivity, addiction, and the placebo effect.

Here we are…!

Facebook’s success can be credited to OXYTOCIN…THE LOVE HORMONE.

All of us are addicted to this ‘love hormone’.

Afterall, we are human beings and the feelings like pleasure, fear, aggression, addiction…are all about our very existence.
